Activation of Microsoft Office

I just got my Lenovo Windows 7 Laptop back from being repaired, and am in the process of reinstalling all of my programs.  I was able to download my MS Office 365, and install it, but when I try to activate it I get the attached error message.  I tried waiting for awhile (as suggested by the message), but it still won't allow the activation.  Most of the programs seem to work fine, so I'm not sure what the implications are for not activating it ... but I would like to get rid of the message, and get the programs activated.  Please advise.

Thanks,

Phil

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Not activating the software will make it go into reduced functionality mode or render it unusable depending on the version of office, that version I am not to sure which it will do. Whenever I have activation issues I will use an elevated command line to activate it. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg702620.aspx

I went to that link, but unfortunately it's too complicate for me.  Can you provide simple non-techy instructions?

Thanks,

Phil

Run cmd as Administrator. (Click start, in the search box type cmd, right click cmd.exe and select "Run as Administrator")
In the elevated command prompt, type:
C:\Windows\System32\cscript.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\OSPP.VBS" /act
Press enter
If running 64 bit office on a 64 bit Windows or a 32 bit office on a 32 bit Windows
C:\Windows\System32\cscript.exe "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\OSPP.VBS" /act
Press enter
