Can I upgrade Apples Boot Camp from version 4.1 to 5.1?

I have an iMac that is setup to dual boot Windows 7 with Boot Camp 4.1.

Can I download the latest version of Boot Camp 5.1 and simply install it on the windows 7 or do I also need to to an update of Boot Camp on the Mac OS?

Try running Apple's Software Update for Windows while booted from Windows.

If that doesn't work, go to this KB: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT204048 and click on the BootCamp version that is compatible with your hardware and software and download and install the appropriate version.

Note that you need the 64 bit version of Win7 to run Bootcamp 5.

I have been to both of those links. There is no "Apple Software Update" program to run on Windows, it is a downloaded zip file that contains a setup.exe file and the drivers that needs to be run on the Windows install. Which is fine.

I guess I was trying to answer the question if it was necessary to update anything on the OSX side before updating the Windows side. But, I finally came to the conclusion that the 2 OS's do not interact since it is a dual boot environment (as opposed to Fusion, Windows on top of OSX) so the only drivers that need updated are the Windows drivers.

Thanks for your input.
