Reason for asking ...

Mate checked in on some face book feature and he then said to someone he was in one location  ...  (lied)
and a friend said no you not you are in x .... and that was correct.

How did this FB friend know?

Im not familiar with Facebook.

My mate has an iphone and likes to be in different places with out his FB friends and girlfriends knowing.

So is there a way to have location services on your iphone without it being linked to facebook? Or only certain people see your location?

Perhaps he has another iphone ap that's giving his location away to someone he has friended and its not a face book feature?

I really don't know what he did .....

He a paranoid android now.

On the iPhone go to:
1. Settings.
2. Privacy.
3. Location Services.
4. Facebook.  'Allow Location Access' = NEVER.

There is another thing I have turned off specifically because I don't want my locations memorized by my iPhone that sends information to Apple and other applications in that same menu you're in.  Go to System Services > Frequent Locations and see all the places your phone knows you're going!  Its actually kinda scary haha.

Let me know if you need anything else.

If you're concerned with location services, and people knowing where you are, it is recommended to turn them off on your mobile device and modify your Facebook settings.
