Backup and recovery for database with ASM
Have Oracle 11gr2 installation (GI and DB) and a database with ASM (non-RAC). Would like to backup the database for DR purpose.
If having no ASM, we can perform a cold backup of the database and init**.ora file to recover the database. For the extreme case: losing everything, we can OS restore the software and recover the database.
If having ASM, we will have to recover the ASM first, right? Checked several links. they do not seem to give the whole picture. What should we do if we assume that we lose everything, esp. how to deal with the ASM backup/recovery?
Can any gurus shed some light on it? Greatly appreciate it if anyone can point to any links about the whole picture. Thanks in advance.
