can someone please why can add max 16 to dag why not 20 any mechanisms?

The Windows failover cluster can only support a maximum of 16 nodes. This limitation kind of flows into DAG. So, though a DAG can only have a maximum of 16 servers, the limit actually comes from the Windows failover cluster.

As far as, I know, it is true till 2008, you have 16 node limit. Which is now increase to 64 nodes in 2012.

I don't think Microsoft want to increase more than 16 node for DAG, though fail-over cluster limitation is increased in 2012. Another way to have more nodes, you can create new DAG. Having multiple DAG is the one more way to achieve your requirement.
