"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

VMware Tools installed on the guest?

Did you upgrade the hardware (guest virtual hardware)?

You probably need to uninstall a bunch of the OEM drivers from the old server hardware vendor.  I would start with the USB drivers.  Generally, it's a good idea to remove all the vendor-specific drivers and allow the generic drivers to install before you P2V.  Had to do this plenty when virtualizing Compaq/HP servers.

I'm assuming your mouse is still working, try removing the keyboard in Control Panel -> Devices -> Keyboards - then check whether Windows is 'detecting' and adding a keyboard.

Could you provide a bit more for us to help you with as it's a bit brief!

VMware host version?
physical hardware of the p2v source?
any errors shown?
have you installed VMware tools?

without more info we can only give generic responses:

some people have had issues with specific keyboard drivers/settings

some people just uninstall the old keyboard driver and let it pick up VMwares drivers automatically.
