EDGE 2010 configuration

Hi Experts,

I am planning to deploy Exchange 2010 EDGE transport server in my environment, at present, in my environment we have the followings configured.

Internet> Spam Filter> Hub transport server> Mailbox server

I am intended to add EDGE transport role as follows:

Internet> Spam Filter> >EDGE transport server> Hub transport server> Mailbox server

Need your advise on the followings:

My plan is to follow the below procedure.

1. Open necessary firewall ports

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb331973(v=exchg.150).aspx

2.Install edge transport server with edge sync

http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-2010-edge-transport-server-configuring-edgesync/

3. In the HUB transport server I have seen that "Accepted Domains" have been created with "Authoritative" domain, some of them are "Internal Relay" and Some of them are "External Relay",
Need to understand all the "Accepted domains" meaning that do i have to create all the accepted domain in Edge transport server those are present in HUB. if so, once i will create accepted domain in edge transport server should i remove those from HUB transport server.

4. Will do EDGE sync.

5. At present SMTP route is set to Spam filter> HUB transport server, I will change it to SPAM filter>EDGE transport server.

Could you please advise is there any step I am missing and what are the consideration I need?

Most of the steps you have outlined are correct.

Do you see any issue with current setup? I am personally not a big fan of edge role, as lot of issue see with edge role. Prefer to have hardware based spam filter tool.  If you still want to install it, you can check this KB:
