web service uri is showing Not acceptable (406) issue how to resolve this issue

Hi Experts,
The following uri showing 406 not acceptable error.
if i give username instead of mail address it is working fine.but with email address it is showing 406
is this because of special characters?
can some one suggest me how to resolve this issue.

http://localhost:8080/dataservice/service/data/362/approvals/m1020@cvs.com .
the above uri will call get method.

try using %40 instead of @

you should run a url encode of the user email address.
