Web based Software/Website for a Committee

Hi Experts,

I have been meaning to ask this question for quite some time.
I am part of a commitee for a not-for-profit organisation and we have seen that we are always bouncing around ideas at each other and waiting for approvals.
Wondering if there is a PRIVATE discussion platform/blog/software you could suggest whereby we could do the following -

1. Create new topics/discussions from time to time
2. When matters are those that require a vote, we get alll members to vote using this system
3. Document procedures and meeting minutes for safe keeping.
4. All info must be PRIVATE and not made PUBLIC.

What could you suggest?
I am happy with Wordpress plugins if someone can suggest an appropriate one

Hey if you are organization and having separate email for all members also why not registered with best private network service
www.yammer.com/signup/
Its allow only to visible information to team or group members only. All data private from others just check it out hope so it will be works for you.
You could do this using WordPress by adding the Members plugin and restricting access to pages to logged in members (the committee) and use the comments section and a simple form for discussion and voting.

If this is a 501c3 organization, you could register for Google Apps for Non Profits and use Google Groups for the same function.

@Ankit - Yammer looks good but I forgot to mention that we are on a shoe-string budget here. Need to look at a free platform as there are 10 committee members.

@Jason - Do you have the link to the specific plugin?? I will checkout not-for-profit thing with Google but as we are based in Australia, google I am not sure allows us to use Apps for free being a not for profit. I heard theys topped doing this.

I would consider using Google Drive, Docs, and Sites.  You can set them up using a free Gmail account and can provide secure web sites, secure document sharing (with threaded comments, suggested edits, version control, etc).  Google Groups provides threaded discussions with or without moderation.

According to this Google.au site, you qualify for the free, non-profit version of Google Apps for Work!

Hi All, I ended up using Evernote but awarding points for your help.
Although Evernote doesn't doa  lot of things I initially requested for but it seems to be pretty good for sharing ideas etc.
