High CPU and Memory usage by SVCHOST.exe and TrustedInstaller.exe

Hello Experts,

We have several servers running Server 2008 R2 64bit and recently most of them are coming to a crawl. Looking at Task Manager Processes, I can see that SVCHOST.exe and TrustedInstaller.exe are using a lot CPU and memory. I feel like it has to do with Windows updates. Is there a permanent fix to this? Also, does anyone know the exact cause?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

SVCHOST.exe issues are caused by the WMI (Windows Management Interface) process. There have been several patches released to address these WMI issues. Google these:
They all have fixes you can download, install them all.
