What software can I use to allow users access to only a few websites in any browser on a Windows pc?

I am looking to locked down some pcs so users can only access a select few webistes and was wondering what software recommendation is best to do this.  At the same time I am also looking for a software recommendation that can capture all sites users are visiting and how much time they are spending on them so I can see what my employees are doing on the net.

Thank you

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Are you looking for an Open Source solution or something more mainstream, in other words, what is your budget?

There's a lot of products out there, proxies, Web Filters without proxy, Firewalls which have this function built-in,...

Another thing you might need to take into consideration is privacy, are you allowed to perform these "investigations" according to country law, company policy and what not... I say this because there are cases where an employee was fired for not doing a well enough job, this fired employee learned earlier on that his former company was snooping on their employees Internet usage, he sued this company and won a lot of money ... So make sure you are covered!

If you want to check the browsing data of all your employees you can opt for hardware or software firewall and activated browsing logs.

you can configure logs with mac binded with each systems.

As per my knowing there no is such software trace browsing data of users. Unless it hardware or software firewall.

You can block website using antivirus and adding website name in Host file.

solution could be a proxy. so by default users won´t be able to go to internet without browsing thru proxy. Free solution is Squid. It´s good product, but it requires some experience or knowledge to configure it.
Improved but not free solution with GUI and reporting is Diladele Web Safety
