I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The supervisor module is hot swappable, you no need to power off the whole chassis in this upgrade. If possible, let the new sup with same image level with the existing one.

BTW, after you complete the redundant sup setup, don't try to remove the sup module for testing the sup failover, just do it by command play safe. Otherwise, you will got 50% chance to crash the system, when you TAC case for the issue, they will told you that the system design will not expect you to remove the sup module on healthy state... god...
