environmental monitoring in serverroom

Dear expert,

How do You monitor environment in serverroom?

I care about a few small customers with on-premise. Each customer have specific environment, but the most of them have special small room with air conditioning and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

And now the question..
1, How do you monitor temperature and humidity?
2, Do you monitor something else (smoke, power outage, ...)?
3, Which values are still good?

I used temperature and humidity monitoring by mPort sensors and software:

This solution costs about $100.
It is connected to a network, It can send alerts and it stores values history.

Kind regards,

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That's easily addressed by installing the American Power Conversion (APC) Netbotz 300. It provides the ability to monitor temperature, humidity, door contact, dry contact, spot leak, vibration, smoke, and  video surveillance with email and text based notifications.

Depending on the scalability needed, they have models from 200 to 500.

Hope this helps!

Some ups have them as an option but it's usually $200+
I usually use these

But I found them online somewhere for around $150.

Most rack vendors have rack accessories including environmental monitoring, but there are lots of other solutions out there as well

Thanks for the answers.

TG-TIS: You are absolutely right. APC is the best option, but it costs more then my small customers wants to pay. Professional products are not cheap...

Aaron Tomosky: It seems IT watchdogs is exactly what I am looking for. I need to compare it witch other similar products, but you pointed me to right direction. Thanks

Gerald Connolly: Do you know some of them personally? Can you recomend some you have good experience?

D_Vante: thanks for Power before UPS, water on the floor, door open, trigger camera. IT WatchDogs looks good.

Kind Regards,
Jarda
