Exchange 2010 Spack issues
I have a SBS 2008 that is at update Rollup 8 for Exchange Server 2010 SP1 build 14.01.0438.000.
Tried to apply Update Rollup 10 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3 and get issues with various errors,it goes through all the motions and just errors out when trying to apply.
Do I need to apply sp2 first?

you need to install SP3 first before applying any update rollup

This looks like it may be a Windows Framework 3.0 as I am seeing a EE thread with a similar issue that looks familiar.
Opening a Powershell prompt gives various errors.(cannot install snapin).
The install of the spack says it passes all reqs,then errs out once it begins the install.
Don't have the error as I tried this a few months ago and am getting around to trying to solve this issue once and for all.
Will try again this weekend and get exact error.

Are you really running Exchange 2010 on an SBS 2008 box, which came with Exchange 2007?

No ,it's a SBS 2011 standard which came with 2010.
My mistake in saying it was SBS2008.

Just tried to update a sp3 rollup 8 2010 Exchange system to rollup 10 and am getting 1610 errors and it fails install and rolls back.
I'm running Forefront Antigen 2010 ,could this be causing install issues?

Typically I don't run anything on the server, yes I would stop all the Antigen stuff on the server, then disable until update is done

Well,RU 9 was available through the Windows update service .
I applied it that way and it seems to have worked.
Manual download and application was not working.
I'm scratching my head on that one.

I've not heard any other issues surrounding RU 8, but glad you got it updated

No, Service Packs, CU's and RU are all cumulative. Which means all of the patches are present from eariler releases. You should be able to go from SP1 to SP3 without any isuses.
What is the error message you are receiving.
