"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Edge always sits on the perimeter network which will receive all incoming and outgoing external email. Even though the Transport Services reside on the mailbox role in Exchange 2013 external mail does still flow through the CAS server. Below is a great link that illustrates the transport pipeline and how mail flows internally and externally.

ok grt but if one user is on mailbox 1 and second on mail 2 then how mail flow will work between them?

In Exchange 2013 messages internally rout from Mailbox Server to other mailbox servers.
