Print Server does not show printers in conventional way
Hi Experts,
Earlier, users used to search network printers by just exploring "\\print-server-name\". Now this shows only few printers. we need to click additionally on "View Remote Printers". Once they click the see whole list. Am curious on whats the difference ?Accessing "\\print-server-name\" shows different list and then clicking on "View Remote Printers" shows whole list.
Also earlier to install the printer locally we just need to double click on the printer on the print server. But now we need to right click and choose "Connect".
Our users need the earlier method ie to open "\\print-server-name\" and double click on printer to install it! Any help on how to revert it back?
Thanks,
Sunil

This behavior has not changed since at least 2003. The printers folder is for management of the printers on the server remotely, not connecting to them.
If you're not seeing printers you think you should (unless you go into that folder), it's because they are not shared. Share them. If you think they are shared, post a screen shot with printer's sharing properties.

Hi Experts,
I found the reason. All of the printers are shared. The difference is due to "Everyone" not added into security groups. Since there was some issue with users with Enterprise Admin rights making auto changes to print drivers, we had removed everyone. Adding back Everyone with print rights seems to fix the issue.
Thanks all..
