DPM 2012 "other items on this datasource are members of another protection group" error

I'm trying to split file shares into multiple Protection Groups for more flexibility. As of now, I get the "other items on this datasource are members of another protection group". This is causing a lot issues considering that different shares have different backup needs. For example, some shares need to be backup up to Azure too, some don't. Is there a way to work around this DPM shortcoming?

Any help would be appreciated.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The issue isn't DPM, its the inclusion of the datasource in more than 1 protection group.  Not a best practice.

I would determine why the datasource is configured in 2 difference PGs.   I recommend have the object in only 1 PG, then your issue should go away.
