SSL Certificates

Hi,

I have started in a new organisation recently and I have received a renewal for a SSL certificate. The vendor is Thawte. I know the certificate we are currently using for Exchange Services is from GeoTrust. My question is is there anyway or application I can use to find out if this Thawte certificate is being used anywhere on our network? The Thawte certificate is mail.domainname whereas our Geotrust is *.domainname. I am pretty sure the wildcard certificate has replaced it, however I need to be sure before I let it expire.

Thanks in advance.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

this information can be provided by the different teams only and there is no way to find which app is using the certificate untull and unless its documents.

you could use a scanner to find instances. Take a look at (for example) https://nmap.org/nsedoc/scripts/ssl-cert.html :D

Thanks Dave, I have not used NMAP before, it looks it could do what we need.

NMap is the canonical portscanner - there are others, but so many vuln scanners start by running NMap to do the heavy lifting for them, it is now the industry standard :D
