PST export from Exchange 2010, cannot import into 2007 mailbox

After a company merger, mail content is exported to PST from Exchange 2010,, then when attempting to import into 2007 mailbox, only a folder is created, but no content is imported.  Is someone aware of this issue? I see references to permissions and reference to a bug with 2010 exporting.  Is there a chance that a hottie or a Rollup will fix this? Or is it just related to permissions not adequately mapped or otherwise updated.

I understand I may need more information. I am not yet sure if the data was migrated with permissions or sidhistory coming over from source, OR if the data was simply exported en masse and imported into 2007.

Hello, I am a bit rusty with Exchange but I will contribute what I can.  As for the PST itself, since it is a local instance of a mail profile, it should still import without issue.

A couple things, what is the filesize of the PST?  Is it relatively close the the mailbox size before it was exported?  If the PST is substantially smaller, then maybe something went wrong with the export command.  I'm guessing it was exported with Exchange Shell with this type of command?

New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox Administrator -FilePath "\\SERVERNAME\SHARE\UserName.pst"

Was the command above run under a domain admin account that had Full Access rights to the mailbox being exported?

I believe you can also check the status of the export with the command below if you haven't already.  It might provide insight on if there was a problem.

Get-MailboxExportRequest | Get-MailboxExportRequestStatistics

Also, what Service Pack level is the Outlook 2007 at?  Is it SP3 and are all updates installed?
As for Exchange, is it at Service Pack 3?  I think the latest rollup is 9.  I haven't read the release notes but if the server hasn't been updated, then it might be worthwhile testing and applying the rollup.

Of course backup the data first.  If this is ran in a virtual environment, then I think you can setup a snapshot to test out the update rollup to see if it works, and if not, roll back the snapshot.

Hope this helps.
