I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

how do i change this from selection to total number in word document.
If you only want to count the number of pages within the selection, you can use this:

Sub CountSelectionPages()
    Dim StartPage As Integer
    Dim EndPage As Integer
    Dim rng As Range
    Set rng = Selection.Range.Duplicate
    rng.Collapse wdCollapseStart
    StartPage = rng.Information(wdActiveEndPageNumber)
    Set rng = Selection.Range.Duplicate
    rng.Collapse wdCollapseEnd
    EndPage = rng.Information(wdActiveEndPageNumber)
    MsgBox "The selection is contained in " & (EndPage - StartPage + 1) & " pages"
End Sub
