Issue sending mail from payroll app via Exchange 2013

How can I determine which setting is rejecting mail sent from our payroll app? It gets to either 100 or 200 sent emails and then says the connection was reset by the host. Which log on the Exchange server will show me what setting/s are responsible?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You have to check the send connector logs.

Thanks R--R but sending from Exchange wasn't the issue so there were no errors in the send connector logs.

The problem turned out to be that although the FrontendTransport receive connector was configured correctly with the appropriate limits, the HubTransport client proxy receive connector was not, as it was hitting a 100 per minute rate limit. This is why there were no errors in the frontend receive connector logs. The error was shown after the 100th email in the transport service protocol log (smtp receive log) referring to the HubTransport Client Proxy receive connector. Once the limits were accordingly adjusted for this connector the issue was resolved.

For others with this issue the connector settings that may be relevant are:

MessageRateLimit
MaxInboundConnection
MaxInboundConnectionPerSource
MaxInboundConnectionPercentagePerSource
MaxRecipientsPerMessage
