Replacing backslashes

Hi all.
Probably this is a stupid question but I can't get rid of it!
I have a series of Windows path such C:\xampp\htdocs\wit\site.es\application\views\somefile.php and I need to process them. To get their content I need to replace backslashes with forward slashes and I tried this

$fn = "C:\xampp\htdocs\wit\site.es\application\views\somefile.php";
$fn = str_replace('\\', '/', $fn);

Open in new window

But I get this:  C: mpp/htdocs/wit/site.es/application iews/somefile.php

What I'm missing here?

I wear a lot of hats...

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
