Outlook 2010 - "The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned unkown error..."

Outlook 2010

I have 10 emails in my pop3 "Junk E-mail" folder. I have successfully permanently deleted hundreds of emails from this folder already but these 10 remain.

When I try to delete either one of these 10 or all of them, I get an popup that says, "The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. IF the problem persists, restart Outlook."

These 10 have been in there for 2 years. All other junk email is easily deletable. I'd like to address this now and finally fix the problem.

Can anyone help out please?

Thank you!

Find SCANPST.EXE in the Outlook Program Folder so you know where it is.

Open an admin Command Prompt, and navigate to the user folder where the outlook PST is. Copy (say) OUTLOOK.PST to backup.pst.

Now run c:\program files (x86).....\scanpst.exe outlook.pst and see if scanpst.exe corrects errors.

Then try again to delete the emails.
