iphone 5S storage

My iphone reports  photo and camera storage as 6.2GB. When I browse into the iphone icon in my computer, drill down into each folder and copy of the photos and videos it only amounts to 4.7GB. Why is this and is there photos/videos stored somewhere else. thanks

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Because programs (software and operating system all take space). Any computer is like this, and it seems (if you look at the size of your software) that your space utilization is approximately correct.

I don't think programs should count against the OP's tally of used space specifically in the photo and camera storage counter.

Are you sure you're counting the photos in your "recently deleted" folder?  (Viewable under "Albums")?

That's what I was thinking, if it says 6.2GB then when I copy it it should be 6.2GB of photos. I will look at this again
