.NET Framework 4.5.1 install WINDOWS XP

Hi There,

I havs a industrial pc at one of our factories that must remain under XP to work... the issued is that we also now have a new softesr that requires .NET Framework 4.5.1.....

Anyone found a workarround to install .NET Framework 4.5.1   under XP ???

Computeer MUST stay under XP!

No workaround required. You can't.  .NET Framework need Vista SP 2 or higher.

So where .NET 4.5.1 is required, you need an operating system that is not dead.

Sorry, but XP is being dropped by Microsoft and Vendors at every turn now.

EE frowns on links from competitive sites but this reference below appears to be the best reference out there for trying what you want to do.

Note the suggestion to use Mono to install 4.5 for compatibility.  I've looked at the Mono site but can't determine if it will install for you.  Or if it would even supply the compatibility you require if it did.  Mono is missing full 4.5 functionality.  There appear to be calls in 4.5 to Windows API functions that don't exist in Windows XP which is why it isn't supported and if your application calls those you are out of luck.

.NET Framework 4.5 was never supported on XP and will not install.

As per Microsoft.

Supported Operating System:

I)   Windows 7 Service Pack 1,
ii)   Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1,
iii)  Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2,
iv)  Windows Server 2012,
v)   Windows Vista Service Pack 2

Hardware Requirements:
•1 GHz or faster processor
•512 MB of RAM
•850 MB of available hard disk space (x86)
•2 GB of available hard disk space (x64)

So, You can't install NET Framework 4.5.1  on WINDOWS XP.
