Yahoo on Mac Mail freezes at 46% when sending 2.5 MB attachment

Mac OS X 10.9.x ?  (have to check)
Using Yahoo with Apple's Mail program.
On Friday, there was a .PDF attachment of about 2.5 MB that just couldn't be sent.  When I looked at the Activity window, I saw that the message would not go past the 46% sent indicator.

I restarted the Mail program, and used MainMenu Pro to "Vacuum Apple Mail Index"
It still wouldn't go past 46%

Any known reason why this occurred?

Thanks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I haven't used Apple Mail with Yahoo.  Have you tried going to Yahoo's webmail page to upload and send the attachement?  Yahoo should allow for 25 MB attachments.  I've done it with Thunderbird.
