Google Apps download hangs with Outlok 2007

We have Google aps installed on all computers however, the boss's computer has started to get stuck on downloading emails via Google apps.  SO now he can not send or receive emails with Outlook.  I have tried to take Outlook offline and change polling to one minute as suggested in other posts to no avail.

What can be done!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You have a "Sync Issues" folder in Outlook, and you should check if there are errors being generated. That's what's causing the sync to "hang", and you'll need to resolve whatever issues you find there.

If you can't do that for some reason, then you can do a complete re-sync of the whole mailbox. You'll need to delete the old Outlook profile, and then re-create it, which will restart the sync from scratch. However, if there was a problem with one of the messages (or contacts, or an appointment) that was causing errors originally, you'll probably have the same problem again.

How is the boss connecting Outlook to Google Apps?   POP3, IMAP, or MAPI via Google Apps Sync for MS Outlook?

If it is IMAP, the issue may be the transfer limits that Google imposes on IMAP access (to prevent spammers from using Gmail to send spam).

If you are running GASMO, there are a few things to check:
How much data is he syncing?
You have the option of syncing 1G, 2G, 4G, or all email
If it is set to 4G or all email, his sync may not be completing; performance is usually poor to awful when the local cache is 4G or all email; try resetting to 2G and letting it sync
What other Outlook add-ons/plug-ins are installed?
GASMO is an add-on and other Outlook add-ons can interfere with GASMO

He is using,  MAPI with Google Apps.

And I believe 4GB.  I will reset to 2GB now and try.

How did the change go?  Did it have an impact?

I split the solutions since even though btdownloads7 did solve the problem, I checked the setting suggested by Allen and even though they were correct, it could have caused the problem.  Sorry for the delay on responding
