Assign permission to modify contacts in Outlook

How to assign permission to a security group to allow few users to modify global address list in Outlook?  Like update names and phone numbers.

It is not possible to edit GAL contacts in Outlook.

You cannot edit Address Book entries from within the Address Book. You make changes by changing the information for the individual contacts in your Outlook Contacts. After saving the contact, the changes for that entry will be updated in the Address Book.

There is another way to edit contact details of users, that is ECP (Exchange Control Panel). You will have to permit a group with modify permission on specific attributes in AD console then you can ad users in that group. Those will be able to modify user's properties through ECP.

Assigned users are able to modify distribution lists.  Thought it'll be the same for other contacts.

no ECP is not available in Exchange 2007, i thought you had Exchange 2010 so suggested for ECP.

DL modification is part of member updates, if manager of DL want to remove/add any members in DL so there is permission for that purpose but not for user updates.
