sql question

1)I have a varchar50 with numbers in it. I want to do a check before I convert them into integers. What function would I use?
Ans:- Cast and Convert
2)If I had a varchar400 column, but it has nothing but numbers in it, what function do I use to change it to int
Ans:- CAST and CONVERT

Is these right answer?
Please help.

Checking the number:

use IS_Numeric()

eg;

select IS_Numeric(varchar50Column)  as num, Varchar50Column from Table

here you can see the value 1 in num column indicating numeric and 0 is not.
