The %SYSTEM_CONTROLLER-3-COR_MEM_ERR: Correctable DRAM memory error message is received in the Cisco Catalyst 6500 switch running Cisco IOS software

Hi All,

I am getting this error in the log files. There are solution provided by Cisco as below;
Core issue
This error message indicates that the system is self-correcting a transient DRAM error.

Resolution
No action is needed if this error occurs only once. However, if the error message occurs again within 24 hours, perform these steps:

Schedule a downtime and re-seat the Synchronous Dynamic Random-Access Memory Dual In-line Memory Modules (SDRAM SIMM) on the Supervisor (SUP) engine.

If errors persist, replace the SIMM.

If errors persist after the memory is replaced, then please contact Cisco Technical Support online using the TAC Service Request Tool.

Is there any impact if  we ignore this issue ? anyone has prior experience on this ?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Translation:
If error occurs constantly (maybe it is bad contact of RAM and memory slot)
Re-seat RAM
if error still occurs  (it was not bad contact - could be RAM has BAD blocks)
Replace RAM
If error still occurs (RAM itself was not the problem)
Problem could be Supervisor (SUP) engine itself (bad capacitors, or whatever)  - so ...
Is there any impact if  we ignore this issue
Impact can vary from you don't even notice anything since everything is working fine to Supervisor engine restarts suddenly or any strange behavior.

Is there anyway I could see exact SIMM module we could take the part number of? Because we need to engage vendor to replace SIMM module incase if rebooting does not solve the issue .

Much appreciate
