How to merge duplicate records in SCCM 2012

We have an issue where will will have a system with a serial #. Then we reimage that system to another name and no there are 2 systems with the same serial #. Since we have our inactive status setting at 7 days. These 2 records show as active for the 7 days. Cause issue with our inventory.

Is there a way to clean up the old systems with the same serial number?

I have no idea on how to do this.  Any help would be great.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You should not delete non-inactive computers.

Maybe you can set the discovery to less than this.

Or maybe you can create a collection to weed these out. A screenshot will help.
