Attach a hyper -v host manually to SCDPM 2012

I have mapped a network drive to the agents path and installed the agent on the server

I have run the setdpmserver command on the target machine and this completes successfully

However within DPM i get the following error message when i try to attach the server

Data Protection Manager Error ID: 307

The protection agent operation failed because DPM detected an unknown DPM protection agent on srv-p1.domain.local.

Use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall the protection agent from srv-p1.domain.local, then reinstall the protection agent and perform the operation again.

I have tried to reinstall once and this has not worked

Kind regards

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Maybe this will help.

When you want to protect primary DPM with Secondary DPM, you just have to "Attach" primary DPM via GUI.

You cannot install DPM agent on DPM itself.

Hello,

the issue was that the version of the agent was incorrect
