Reverse DNS Entries

I am setting up a new mail server.

How do I setup the reverse DNS entry? I found a step by step on it, but the information seemed out of date.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Reverse DNS needs to be configured by your ISP. You need to provide them the MX record DNS name you want the IP address assocaited with.

let's assume I am the one setting up the mx record at godaddy or please.

You are talking about a Forward lookup Host record. You own the Name and not the IP. The ISP owns the IP you need to contact them to setup reverse IP's to your host names that you own. In the case it would be for an MX record.
