CSV and Heartbeak Network

Hello,

I have been in the process of setting up a Hyper-V Cluster using iSCSI Storage which I have succesfully done, but I cannot see how and where I can setup the heartbeat and CSV Network, I'm slighly confused by these!

I've got the following NICs

1. iSCSI NIC
2. MGMT NIC
3. Live Migration NIC

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Once the Hyper-V cluster is up and running check your Storage tab in Failover Cluster Manager. You should see your LUNs/Disks that were created. Quorum would stay a standard disk as its arbitration is controlled within the cluster service.

You would need at least one more LUN for your CSV storage. Right click that LUN in FCM (after the standard NTFS format procedure) and Add to CSV. It will then get incorporated.

Where's your NIC for the VM's vSwitch?

I have an EE article that explains how we set up standalone and clustered guests here: Some Hyper-V Hardware and Software Best Practices.

Thanks, I will check.

Sorry I missed off one more nic called TRUNK which is where all my hyper-v traffic goes over

In a production setting NIC ports should be teamed to eliminate a single point of failure (NIC port, cable, switch port).
