Problem in installing ESXI on Lenovo B50 laptop.

I'm trying to install ESXI hypervisor on lenovo B50 laptop, i have a lot of problem while installing :
1- nfsclient failed to load
2- no network card identified
 * Those problems solved with HP custom ESXI 5.0 iso.
3- No storage device identified  Error: (esxi attributeerror 'text' object has no attribute 'device')
This problem still not solved. Any suggestions for solution?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

ESXi is an Enterprise Corporate Hypervisor, and has a small foot print, so it does not have the drivers for all storage controllers and network interfaces.

Servers that have been certified for use with ESXi are designed to run ESXi.

Check the VMware Hardware Compatability Lists HCL here

The VMware Hardware Compatibility List is the detailed lists showing actual vendor devices that are either physically tested or are similar to the devices tested by VMware or VMware partners. Items on the list are tested with VMware products and are known to operate correctly.Devices which are not on the list may function, but will not be supported by VMware.

You would be well advised to install ESXi under VMware Workstation on your laptop.

Installing ESXI inside VMware Workstation consumes resources. I still need to install it on Lenovo B50 laptop.
Any other solutions?

What about just using VMware Workstation (that WILL work) and installing the guests you need. Leave ESXI for servers.

The basic problem is that i have physical machine, i need ESXI to convert it to Virtual. Work stationdesnt solve the problem because hard disk space.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
What about using VMware Converter (free) to do this.
LizaMolyAuthor Commented:
VMware converter needs ESXI to convert virtual to it.
Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
What are you trying to do, all VMware virtual machines are similar, and ESXi VMs can be used on VMware Workstation and/or Player.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
Are you sure? I have used VMware Convertor without ESXI. Use the standalone version.
LizaMolyAuthor Commented:
Any way i still need to solve the problem with ESXI. Other solutions ?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
Any way i still need to solve the problem with ESXI. <-- Put ESXI on compatible hardware.
As has already been mentioned, you don't need ESXi to use VMware Converter. You must have misunderstood something.
Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
You DO NOT need to P2V to an ESXi server.

VMware Converter, will P2V, V2V any Server OS/Windows OS provided supported, to a VMware Virtual Machine.

Unless you can inject and use the drivers for your storage controller for ESXi 5.0, you will not be able to use ESXi directly on your laptop, it was not designed for your laptop.

How about Windows 8.1 Pro and Hyper-V ?

Thank you every body for help, I need more details about  converting P2V without the need to ESXI, how to do it with vmware workstation?
Another thing does PROXMOX suitable for my situation, and how to convert P2V using it?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
We have no idea of "your Situation", so there is no way of being able to say whether Proxmox would help or not. But it is unlikely.

Proxmox is a Linux OS that uses KVM as the hypervisor. It also isn't free.

Please read the Articles I've provided, they will tell you all you need to know about P2V-ing and Converter.
