Trying to get a good USB 3.0 Hub with RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Hello everyone,

My laptops Dell Inspiron I7548-4271SLV and Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro don't have an RJ-45 slot and so I was planning to get an USB 3.0 to RJ-45 adapter. Since those laptops only have two USB 3.0 ports, I thought it would be nice to get an adapter which can double up as an USB 3.0 hub.

I'm unable to choose between the following.

http://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Gigabit-Ethernet-Converter-Network/dp/B00IJU0K2Q

http://www.amazon.com/Sentey%C2%AE-Bus-powered-Ethernet-Converter-Portable/dp/B00OKRH5RK

http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Portable-Ethernet-backwards-compatibility/dp/B00M7MYFAU/

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks for your time.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Either will do.
Note some are only backwards compatible to USB 2 or at least that is what they cover.

You are looking for 1GHz, and USB 3 are covered.

what I'd do is get a good hub and a separate rj45 usb adapter.. this gives you more flexibility.

Thanks a lot Arnold and David.

Which ones would you recommend, David? Would it be possible for you to post some links? This is the only one that I see with decent reviews:

Every item you mentioned should work fine for you

The last thing linked, the "RIF6 USB-RJXT over Cat5/5e/6 Extension Cable RJ45 Adapter Set" is not a USB to Ethernet Adapter. Rather, It runs a USB signal over a Cat5 cable to extend the USB signal past what a normal USB cable could do.

Of the devices listed, I'd get the Sentey® 3 Ports Usb 3.0 Black Hub + Gigalan 10/100/1000 Port Ls-6111. It has the most reviews and the cheapest price ($19.99):

Getting a separate hub and Ethernet adapter is going to cost more

A good USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter for $15.66
http://smile.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Ethernet-Chromebook-Specific-TU3-ETG/dp/B00FFJ0RKE/

A 4 port USB 3.0 hub on sale for $9.99 right now:
http://smile.amazon.com/Anker-AH400-4-Port-Compact-Built-/dp/B00B7FOQCK/

So that's a total of $25.65, and will be more cumbersome to carry and use both. The upside is if either the hub or Ethernet adapter fail, you can replace that part for less than replacing the combo Ethernet/Hub device.
