Synology Diskstation Volume Crashed

Dear Experts,

Yesterday, my configuration settings were lost and had to reinstall DSM into the diskstation.

Now it says the volume crashed, and there is no shared folder.

Can my data ever retrieved back?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hard to see you getting data back from this...based on those screenshots...

From what I can see you have a RAID5 volume which is made up of 8 disks(9 and 10 are listed as Hot-Spare) - is that correct?

Of those 8 disks there are 2 which report Failed(Disk 3 & 4) and I also see Disk 2 is 'Not Initialised' which normally is the case when a new drive is inserted into the unit...

The main issue is with a RAID5 volume it can only survive a 1 disk failure count - you have 3 failed disks and thus the volume is 'crashed'...

You will def need to talk to Synology tech support for a start...if they can't help then you may be out of luck and have to talk to a hard drive recovery firm(which costs 4 figures normally)
