Surface Pro 3 and External monitor

I have a Surface Pro 3 attached to an external monitor via the miniDisplay port on the docking station. Is there a way to make it where every time I put it in the docking station, it will only use the external monitor and not the touch screen ? Can this be accomplished without a reboot, kinda like using "display profiles". I want this to happen automatically without having to select the option every time.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

i just test this.
if you hold "Win" +P and change it to "second screen only"
everytime you took off the minidisplay port, it will says a 2nd screen is missing.
And if you put it back, it will shows only on 2nd screen only.

(at least my Surface pro 3 did that)

I replaced the monitor, which fixed the problem.
