Test server 2003R2 for font corruption

Our application is running on a clients 2003R2 server and the error is that the fonts cannot be found.

Is there some way to test the fonts to see if they are corrupted? Looking for any means to test to prove or disprove that the fonts are the problem.

Hi,

Did you installed any KB's recently? especially kb3013455? if so, try to remove that and see it makes any difference.

Uninstall KB3013455. Restart Server. Remove all fonts from the "Fonts" Folder. you cannot remove systel fonts. Copy all fonts from any computer to the "Fonts" folder of the corrupted server. Thats it

Also, if the above KB installed then there is a fix released by MS https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3037639

Hope this helps

Which font(s) are you trying to access?
Are these fonts installed on the server?

Microsoft provide a TrueType font validator tool with which you can test the integrity of individual TrueType/OpenType font files.

Thank you for your response.

Server is fully updated. kb3013455 does not appear to be installed, at least I cannot find it, maybe the updates have removed it.

None of the fonts are available, all af the fonts tested are in the Winnt\fonts folder.

The TrueType font validator tool states that it will not test the fonts in the winnt\fonts folder and those are the I need to test.

Can you provide examples of the names of (some of) the fonts you are failing to see?
Bear in mind that the font names are not necessarily the same as the font file names (in fact it is very unlikely that they will be the same).

You will need to copy the files in the %WinDir%\Fonts folder to a different folder (e.g. called FontsCopy), and the tool should then be able to access the files in that copy folder.

Note that you will have to copy the individual font files - copying the folder itself will result in a new folder (with the same 'virtual data' characteristics), which the tool will not consider.
