missing partition

On my windows 7 hard drive the primary partition somehow converted to raw and went missing.  I have not written anything to that hard drive which I pulled from the system it was in.  What free software is there to recover either the partition and or the files in that partition.

Thanks

Be cautious in using it.  Read the instructions on the page carefully.

i recommend GetDataBack  -not free; but it's by far the best i've found : http://www.runtime.org/

you can run it to see what can be recovered- then pay for storing the info

if you want a free one - easus claims to do it :

Which exact partition is converted to RAW? System or data?
Do you have any backup which you could restore the partition from? Try to scan it with GetDataBack as suggested above. It is free to scan. If it sees the data - then you can purchase the full version and use it.
Also, if you connect the drive externally you can browse the RAW partition using Volume Explorer tool from trial version of Paragon Backup & Recovery Home: http://www.paragon-software.com/home/brh/
The last tab on the top of Full Scale Mode.
