Make Windows send alert when any system changes made?

Hello,

Can someone suggest a Microsoft or third party product that will send alerts and/or log when any system changes are made?  For example, I would like to receive an alert or notification if the registry has been changed on a system, if a GPO has been changed/applied etc.

Thank you,

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Download, install and run Process Manager from Microsoft.

There are dozens if not hundreds of registry changes every minute.

I would mark your task as (a) truly unnecessary and (b) hopeless in terms of outcomes.

Spend your time on real issues.

For servers, you can enable logging and auditing and that may be informative at the server level.

The reply about unnecessary and hopeless - I need to forward that to my supervisor who requested I investigate this.

There are just so many daily changes to the registry in any environment.

I agree with David that standard users cannot make significant system changes and all my client users are standard users, but even there, the registry is changing frequently.

I kid John - your response actually matches my initial thoughts.  I am going to accept your comment on auditing and logging as the solution for this question.  That, in combination with Solar Winds and we can keep up with changes that take place.
