e-lock app for real locks

At my country, there has been a tech project contest in where one of them won fourth place. That winning project is about a mobile app named e-lock, which lets a person to open a real lock using his smartphone through bluetooth. It is thought to be used by owners of small stores. The store owner, remotely or closely, can open the lock of his store for his/her employers at the beginning of the day.

There is not much information about that project, so I wonder if maybe this kind of devices and apps already exist. I imagine that kind of physical lock has to have a chip incorporated in order to work along with the mobile app.

Has anyone seen something similar about what I'm explaning?
