I can not open my database , because one file needs to recover.

    "  ORA-01113 : file 1 needs media recovery
       ORA-01110: data file 1 "system01.dbf"

When trying to recover it i am missing the first archive log it request to recover.

Recover database ;  -- commands fails requesting an archive that is missing.

How can i recover my database without having an archive file ?  - it is not on disk or tape.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What is the last archive that you have?  If the number of the last archive you have is sequenced one less than what it is asking for, then you need to supply the online log.  If you don't know which one is the current online log, then just supply them one at a time.  It will tell you when you give it an incorrect one and it doesn't hurt anything.

If you are truly missing an archive, the your only choice is to stop the recovery.  You would need to do a

Then when it requests the archive you are missing, cancel the recovery.  At that point, you must do an OPEN RESETLOGS.  After doing this, you should immediately shut down the database and do a cold backup.

With a cancelled recovery, there will be some data loss.  There is no avoiding it.

As johnsone stated:  You need to recover until cancel.

It doesn't matter what ones you have after the missing one.  You cannot use them.

Before doing the recover until cancel, triple check all you backup tapes.  It may be on an old tape.

Yes I know it's not a rodeo log, must have been mind lapsus due to mid-week ADD.
That why I posted the other link.
