"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try reinstalling the driver, otherwise it has an error needing HP service.

Self-Test Error 48 on a DesignJet represents a Pen to Paper Space (PPS) failure - either the solenoid cable is damaged, loose or, more likely, the main PCA (Paper Carriage) power board has failed.

If it's out of warranty you can get some troubleshooting advice from the Service Manual - including the part numbers for the components involved.
