HP Comware 5130 IRF setup

Hello,

We have 2 x HP 5130 EI switches, but we are having trouble settng up IRF. We want to use two of the 10G interfaces on each, but following the guide is getting us nowhere. Can someone help?

Thanks!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

you have to configure and save IRF setup before you connect the switches together.

Log in to the switch

Switch 1

<HP>sys
[HP]irf member 1 priority 30
[HP]interface ten 1/0/51
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet1/0/51]shut
[HP]interface ten 1/0/52
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet1/0/52]shut
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet1/0/52]quit
[HP]irf-port 1/1
[HP-irf-port1/1]port group interface Ten-GigabitEthernet 1/0/51
[HP-irf-port1/1]quit
[HP]irf-port 1/2
[HP-irf-port1/2]port group interface Ten-GigabitEthernet 1/0/52
[HP-irf-port1/2]quit
[HP]interface ten 1/0/51
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet1/0/51]undo shut
[HP]interface ten 1/0/52
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet1/0/52]undo shut
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet1/0/52]quit
[HP]irf-port-configuration active
[HP]save

Switch 2

<HP>sys
[HP]irf member 1 renumber 2
[HP]Save
[HP]return
<HP>reboot

[HP]interface ten 2/0/51
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet2/0/51]shut
[HP]interface ten 2/0/52
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet2/0/52]shut
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet2/0/52]quit
[HP]irf-port 2/1
[HP-irf-port2/1]port group interface Ten-GigabitEthernet 2/0/51
[HP-irf-port2/1]quit
[HP]irf-port 2/2
[HP-irf-port2/2]port group interface Ten-GigabitEthernet 2/0/52
[HP-irf-port2/2]quit
[HP]interface ten 2/0/51
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet2/0/51]undo shut
[HP]interface ten 2/0/52
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet2/0/52]undo shut
[HP-interface-tenGigabitEthernet2/0/52]quit
[HP]irf-port-configuration active
[HP]save

Rinse and repeat for other switches in the stack up to 4

Remember not to connect the switches together before the IRF is configured and connect the cables on their opposites irf-port1/1 to irf-port2/2 ect...

Hope this helps
