sharepoint 2013 windows security prompt


I've just built a 2013 sharepoint platform which currently only contains the Central Admin Web Application. It works fine from the WFE server, but when I try to log into the CA Web App from any other PC I get a Windows Security prompt which doesn't except my username and password. Any ideas what I could have missed?

I'm using SP 2013 Enterprise
Windows 2012 R2 as my WFE server
and Windows 2012 R2 with SQL 2014 as my DB server.

incomplete Kerberos configuration was the problem. MS states authentication will fall back onto NTLM if Kerberos isn't complete but that doesn't seem to be the case here. for now, I've changed the authentication to NTLM until I have Kerberos correctly set up.
