PowerEdge R710 with PERC H700 Controller Physical Disk Failed in Server Administrator.

Hello - I need to replace a bad disk on my RAID 5.
How do I take the bad one out and put in the new one? Just pull it out, replace bezel and reinsert? Do we do it hot?
Do we need to do anything in Dell OpenManage Server Administrator?
FYI, hard drive is Dell pn W347K 1 600G, SAS6, 15K, 3.5, S-EG, E/C

Yes, it should be hot swappable.  Keep your server on (do not power off), pull out the failed drive and replace it with the new one.  Then go to OpenManage and you should see the rebuild take place automatically.

If not, see if it's in READY state.  If it is with no activity then you will have to assign it as a hot spare.  When you set it as hot spare you should see the activity light blinking and the Openmanage status will change from READY to REBUILD.

Yes, you always replace hot-swappable disks "hot".

As Wayne said, if it doesn't rebuild automatically and shows as Ready, assign it as a hot-spare.

If the disk shows as Foreign, you need to CLEAR it first.
