OneDrive for Business and Windows 2008R2 domain shared folders

I have a Windows 2008R2 server which is our in-house domain server. I also have all the users set up with an Office 365 email account. I now want to make their personal folders, the shared folder and an archive folder available to all the users using OneDrive for Business. Can this be done, I have the Office 365 Business Essentials package but all I've found on this issue is that only local files can be selected but I can't believe I can't select the other shared folders?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

As the admin you can create a collection on Sharepoint and on the server as the admin add these files to onedrive4business

David,

I am trying to do the similar thing .   It would be great if you could kindly list the steps to do this ?

what I am trying to do is :

I have a User called  Chris with a  Folder to share called “ ChrisShared”

Other users in his department want to access  this folder as mapped network drive when in office and over the internet ( OneDrive ) when they are away.

I am thinking to sync this folder in OneDrive  and then share with his colleagues.

What we don't want is that " when accessed through internet we do not want users to be able to SYNC this folder to their  computers "

Is this Possible ?

I had all sorts of issues with OneDrive and now I use a combination of Box.com and DropBox. It will do the job for what you want

Thanks for your reply,
BOX.com and DropBox  is another expense , we have OneDrive license so I am keen in getting this through OneDrive.

Office 365 Business Essentials doesn't include Sharepoint which is what onedrive4business uses vice the normal onedrive. AKA onedrive personal.

Other users in his department want to access  this folder as mapped network drive when in office and over the internet ( OneDrive ) when they are away. not possible.  Only if Chris shares the folder can they access it via a web browser.
