Migration from SBS 2011 to Full Exchange Server 2013

We're planning a migration from SBS 2011 to "Full" Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012.

Experts, are there any "gotchas" with this procedure? Is it exactly the same in terms of EDB migration, box transfer, etc.? This is assuming our ADUC is in good shape.

We're estimating installation and migration of a 450 GB mail store at 100 - 120 hours. Sound about right?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Should be pretty straight forward.

Upgrade from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013

As long as your environment is solid, you should be in good shape.

100-120 hours should be enough to complete the migration. You can do 90% installation and migration during business hours. Only time you need downtime, is during switch over dns records.

Planning is key, if you plan everything properly, moving from one server to another server is one day task. You might also need to look from client end, that might add extra time, like upgrading Oulook clients and installing Outlook related patches etc.

If you have any third party tool, that also need to added in this migration, finally if you have application server using your current Exchange server, you need to plan that cutover also.

I assume you environment is small. So, I might add 50 hours more for planning or any other unexpected work.
