I need help receiving new email notification in Outlook 2013

I have created Folders with email rules for different email groups in my Outlook 2013.
I don't receive new email notifications when I receive emails in these folders.
How can I fix it so that I receive new email notifications?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Please note that if you enable Desktop Alerts, the rules become client-side. You'll need to keep Outlook open in order messages to be sorted to your folders.

you could probably leave your sort to folder rule as is and create a new rule for desktop alerts so your sorting stays server side.

Frank, unfortunately in this case desktop alerts won't work as desired. Outlook can only run rules on new Inbox messages. If the message was moved to some folder on a server, Outlook skips such new messages: when you start Outlook, some messages are sorted already.
